OVCs

Alternatives to institutional and (over) extended family care for orphans and other children made vulnerable by HIV and AIDS are investigated. The role of community groups and schools, amongst others, are scrutinized and emphasised. The project operates in communities in and around the Hammanskraal area where it has helped to establish a Child Care Forum, a recommendation from a research collaboration with the Early Learning Resource Unit which reviewed safety nets for children.
