The post-doctoral and doctoral fellowship programme at the CSA is led by a professor in Anthropology, working with researchers based in southern African universities and community-based researchers in various African countries.

This research develops critical understandings of the construction of sexualities and sexual behaviour in a region of very high HIV prevalence, social and personal denial, and political inaction. The research supports policy development and implementation across the region and generates new and challenging knowledge about sexuality, sexual behaviour and gender, exploring how men can develop sexual identities both liberating and protective.
