Tswelopele

The Tswelopele project researched HIV-related stigma and knowledge of human rights in Hammanskraal. It runs training on stigma and human rights and is researching rights issues relating to testing and treatment.

It set up and runs a Para Legal Advice Centre (PLACE), using trained community-based volunteers to refer clients to PLACE and to promote human rights awareness. The paralegal volunteers link with various community groups to ensure access to justice. The project has also set up an advocacy group, consisting of people living with HIV/AIDS, to further the rights, and to represent the voices, of this constituency.
