Top level CSA Current Projects


The annual AIDS Reviews of the CSA take a seemingly intractable issue and try to develop a critical and robust engagement with it.


The following AIDS Reviews have been published so far:

  • 2000 - To the Edge examined a decade of lost opportunities to address the South African epidemic
  • 2001 - Who cares? asked who really cares about the African epidemic and if cares necessarily equals commitment
  • 2002 - Whose right? explored the value of rights approaches to the epidemic in challenging stalled policies and commitments in Southern Africa
  • 2003(Over)extended asked whether families were coping with relentless demands of the epidemic
  • 2004 - (Un)real challenged limiting stereotypes of men and masculinity in South Africa
  • 2005 - Buckling took a critical look at how we should be measuring the impact of HIV and AIDS on South Africa
  • 2005 - What's Cooking? focused on the impact of HIV and AIDS on agriculture and the politics of food access and production
  • 2006 - Forthcoming.
