Satellite offices: Nelspruit, Witbank and Hammanskraal

Top level CSA Project Archive

Starting in 2002, the CSA developed a range of programmes, implemented through three satellite offices of the CSA, in Witbank and Nelspruit in Mpumalanga and at Hammanskraal, just north of Pretoria. These programmes enhanced prevention and support activities around HIV and AIDS through promoting awareness and debate, built individual and organisational capacity and enhanced organisational networking, with a special focus on gender. Where possible, students of UP were integrated into this work through their practical placements at the satellite campuses.

The grant for the period June 2004 – May 2005 focused on bringing the work of the Mpumalanga offices to a close and strengthening the work of the Hammanskraal office, with a special emphasis on documenting alternative models of care for orphans and vulnerable children (OVCs) in Africa and developing guidelines for designing these models. The funding for this work ended in 2006 but the Hammanskraal office continues to do this work, while at the same time housing the paralegal advice centre of the Tswelopele project.
