Mary has an education and sociology background and her tasks include: driving the centre’s vision, structure and programmes; fund raising, marketing and financial oversight; managing staff; liaising with donors, agencies and dignitaries; writing for academic publications; liaising with university management; guiding the development of media; providing intellectual leadership; delivering conference papers at the highest level; sitting on national and international conference organising committees; and sitting on a range of NGO boards.
Mary was instrumental in setting up work and links across Africa and internationally with the SADC Parliamentary Forum, networks of women living with HIV in Africa, the Ethical Globalisation Initiative, Parliamentarians for Women’s Health, Yale University and the internationally focused 5 Centre HIV/AIDS Research Initiative (5 CHARI). She sits on TARG with Pierre Brouard.
