Pierre is a clinical psychologist who deputises for Mary in her absence – fulfilling many of her duties – and who helps to manage the centre on a day to day basis. This includes running staff meetings, promoting staff development, overseeing financial matters, conferring with project managers and liaising with key UP staff including the Dean of Students. Apart from counselling and training duties (which includes conceptualising and developing training materials) he also writes funding proposals and journal articles; delivers conference papers; reviews academic material for publication; and consults to a wide range of organisations on psychosocial issues, gender, sexuality, human rights, testing, treatment and tertiary responses to HIV and AIDS.
