Rakgadi has a Master’s degree in gender and development and is a specialist in issues around gender, stigma and sexuality. Currently Rakgadi manages a research project for NAP+SAR, a regional network of organizations for people living with HIV. She also oversees the Centre’s stigma work and until recently ran the Siyam’kela project. She represents the CSA on SANAC (the government/civil society AIDS body) in the areas of research and human rights. Rakgadi has also worked closely with various UP departments in their research projects: she is a trainer, materials developer, conference speaker, lecturer and researcher. She sits on TARG.
